As said, this is a very raw improvisation, I would usually only do this until I find something inspiring and concentrate on finetuning.Īnd as said before, I usually prefer Battery for these kind of things as it allows for easier manipulation of individual samples. I do then add the note repeater and delay again and fool around a little more. Then I'm changing the instrument used from Ultrabeat to the EXS, which comes with quite some drumkits as well, offering different tweaking options - which I'm then making use of. In addition, I activate the send to the delay bus. You can see the settings I'm using in the video (again: All chosen instantly without any preparation). I do then insert a note repeater as a MIDI FX - again, nothing predictable with any sort of drums. But I wanted to go for something less predictable. Then I change some more Ultrabeat stuff, this time using the Analog Percussion drum bank - which isn't even remotely configured to work as a GM drumset, more or less required to get predictable results out of Drummer. Then it's time for Kyle to show up, he also prefers a different song tempo (Drummers do that as long as you didn't set a song tempo yourself or recorded anything). I do then just exchange the drum kit in favour of Ultrabeat.
This is important when you want to change the drumming persons (which I do later on). Next I checked the "keep drum kit when changing Drummers" box from the editors pulldown. I started with a default Drummer track, all inserts bypassed, so it's good old Rose doing her thing with the default kit and play settings she's showing up with.
Hence there's just my Logic movements and sounds. You can of course as well purchase a whole bunch of packages - the nice thing being that you can preview most things inside the app.

There's a pretty huge free loop pack coming with the app and there's some new free content offered weekly that you can download straight from the app. They have a pretty nifty app that connects to a plugin sp the loaded loops always sync to song tempo - and once you find a suitable one, you can drag and drop it straight into Logic. But well, it's certainly not tailored for loop useage.īut you can load various kits and play them via Drummer - which is pretty much resulting in an infinite number of loops, just that you can tweak them much more in detail than what is possible with audio loops.Īpart from that, if you're into loops you might want to check out Loopcloud. Does it have better preset sounds and loops than Logic Pro X?No idea about Battery 4 (I'm using 3), to me it seemed as if you might have it already.
